Originally from Pikeville, KY, Wilmar is the youngest of thirteen children.
His mother and father were missionaries in Eastern Kentucky.
He was saved at home at the age of seven and was called into the ministry when he was in the eighth grade. Wilmar graduated from Johns Creek High School in 1967. In 1970, he graduated from Appalachian Bible Institute in Bradley, WV with a diploma in Bible. A year later he graduated from Calvary Bible College in Kansas City, Mo. with a Bachelor of Arts Degree.
Wilmar has been married to Delores "Dee" Wegner since 1971 and resides in
Newport, Va.. Wilmar and Dee have three grown children and four
grandchildren.
Wilmar has been in the ministry now for more than 30 years and currently serves as an Associate Pastor at RBC. Along with teaching a Sunday School class and occasional
preaching, his duties include:
Sunday School Superintendent
Overseeing RBC's missions ministry
Coordinating the senior adult ministry
Directing an adult choir
Leading congregational singing
Wilmar is currently working on his Masters degree in Pastoral Ministry from North Baptist Bible College.
His life verse is Joshua 1: 8,9:
"This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou
shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do
according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way
prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Have not I
commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage: be not afraid, neither be
thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."
